Community Safety Notice - Fairwater
We would like to make residents in this area aware of recent reports involving attempted vehicle thefts, criminal damage to vehicles, and thefts of personal property from vehicles.
We understand that incidents of this nature can be concerning for residents. Please be assured that these matters are being investigated, and we are encouraging the local community to stay vigilant and take steps to help protect their vehicles and belongings.
How to help keep your vehicle safe overnight:
Lock your vehicle: Always check that your doors and windows are fully secured and locked when going home, even when parked on your driveway.
Choose a well-lit location: Where possible, park in an area with lighting, ideally within view of your property.
Remove valuables: Never leave handbags, wallets, cash, electronics, tools, or other valuables inside your vehicle overnight, and especially not on display during the day time.
Keep keys secured: Keep vehicle keys away from doors and windows, and out of sight. Consider using a signal blocking pouch if you own keyless-entry vehicles.
Consider security cameras: Dashcams with parking mode, and doorbell cams are a massive deterent and reassurance should anything happen to your vehicle. Ensure the cameras you do have are positioned appropriately and comply with privacy requirements.
Use additional security: Consider a steering-wheel lock or other suitable vehicle safety equipment, particularly if your vehicle has keyless entry.
Stay vigilant: Report suspicious activity, anyone trying handles or windows, or behaving suspiciously around parked cars. Do not approach or confront anyone you may suspect of committing an offence.
Report incidents promptly: If your vehicle has been damaged, entered or stolen, please report it to us. If you have dashcam or doorbell cam footage of a criminal offence taking place, please make us aware and we can use this to support our investigation.
We ask residents to look our for one another and remain alert.
If a crime is happening now or someone is in immediate danger please call 999. To report a crime or share information that does not require immediate attendance please call 101 or contact us on our Facebook page.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. | ||
